Adi Kohler
Adi “Mr. Mauna Kea” Kohler, 83, of Kohala, died Nov. 12, 2020, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born Dec. 20, 1936, in Sudetenland (now a region of Czechoslovakia), he worked for first-class hotels in Munich, Germany, Paris, Arizona and Wyoming before becoming general manger of the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel for nearly three decades, an author, served as bailli (presdient) of Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, recipient of many awards including America’s Resort Executive of the Year by the American Hotel &Motel Association in 1988 and the Bailliage of USA award in 2015, and was a member of the Rancheros Visitadores riding club, Rotary Club of North Hawaii, and the Board of Directors for Parker School and a volunteer for Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital.
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Bieni Kohler Johnson Memorial Fund, c/o Hawaii Preparatory Academy, 65-1692 Kohala Mountain Road, Kamuela, HI 96743.
Kohler is survived by wife Kathrin Kohler; son, Christian Kohler; daughter-in-law, Kristin Kohler, son-in-law Robert Johnson and four grandchildren.
James Bondaug Sr.
James Roy Bondaug Sr., 77, of Hilo, died on Nov. 17, 2020, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired driver at Roberts Hawaii Tours and Transportation.

Brian Shindo
Brian Katsumi Shindo, 61, of Hilo, died Nov. 12, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired United States Postal Service mail carrier, commercial fisherman and U.S. Air Force veteran.

He is survived by wife, Kerima Lee-Wai Shindo of Hilo; daughters, Myra Shindo and Koreylene Medeiros, both of Honolulu, and Kimilee Ortiz and Kerrilee Rocha, both of Hilo; son, Jaimie Enos of Hilo; sister, Teri (Shane) Agno of Honolulu; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alfred Medeiros Jr.
Alfred Medeiros Jr., 93, of Hookena, died Nov. 11, 2020, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born April 8, 1927, in South Kona, he was a cowboy for McCandless Ranch and member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

He is survived by son, Alfred Medeiros III of Waimea; stepson, Mark Val of Honaunau; daughters, Jocelyn (Michael) Lo of Utah and Maelene (Ron) Hoffer of Waimea; brother, Frank (Vicky) Medeiros of Kapaa; sister, Phoebe Loo of Utah; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leonard Garibaldi
Leonard “Tom” Thomas Garibaldi, 76, of Milolii, died Nov. 17, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 30, 1943, in Oakland, California, he was a retired sales representative for Oahu Marketing Co., Zellerbach Paper Co., and Peter Pan Candy Co., sales clerk at Sack ‘N’ Save, security officer at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, former member of Columbo Club and Honolulu Elks and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by sons, Todd Garibaldi of Stockton, California, and Antoni Garibaldi of Oahu; hanai sons, William (Cheyanne) Kahele of Kailua-Kona, Louis (Alicia) Kuahuia, Tyson Kuahuia, Justin Llanes-Fomai and Vernon Kahele, all of Milolii; and hanai daughters, Sierra (Keoni) Kama of Waikoloa and Emma Kahele of Milolii.

Bryan Stebbins
Bryan Nide Stebbins, 93, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 19, 2020, in Kapaau. Born Sept. 30, 1927, in Jeffersonville, Vermont, he was a U.S. Army veteran and accountant.
He is survived by sons, Brad Stebbens of Phoenix and Bruce (Christine) Stebbins of Emmett, Idaho; daughter, Roberta Smith of Kailua-Kona; sister, Lee Taub of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; and nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held. The family asks that donations be made to your favorite Christian charity or to the CBN-700 club in Stebbins’s name.

Yayoko Inaba
Yayoko Inaba, 97, of Holualoa, died Nov. 3, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 24, 1923, in Lahaina, Maui, she was the proprietor of the Kona Hotel.

She is survived by daughters, Georgene (Al Burkart) Inaba of Portland, Oregon, and Ann Inaba of Holualoa; son, Don (Kawehi) Inaba of Kaloa, Kona; sister, Clara Ichiyama of Wahiawa, Oahu; brother, Tokuyuki Kawasaki of Japan; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jason Kamaehu Kapali Nihoa O Koolau Lee, 41, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 24, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 24, 1979, in Honolulu, he was an entrepreneur, owner of Superior Drywall Service Inc. and a maintenance 1 engineer for Hilton Grand Vacations.
